What this tour is about:
Bikaner's Old City area is made up of traditional neighbourhoods, with narrow lanes, heritage mansions, residential areas and colourful bazaars. On this tour, we will explore the Old City's lively street culture and stately homes (havelis) travelling by autorickshaw (tuktuk) and on foot.

Route:
The tour begins with an autorickshaw ride to the Old City, upto the Jain Bhandasar temple. We will climb to the first floor of the temple for views of the city and an introduction to the area. From here, we begin an exploration on foot, walking through the bangle market, spice market, tea street and vegetable market. Continuing further through residential and commercial areas, we will arrive at Rampuria Street, which contains some excellent examples of Bikaner's traditional red sandstone havelis. These havelis, with their marvellous carvings reflect the personal tastes of the rich merchants who built them, as well as the mix of architectural styles in vogue in the 1900’s. We will have a refreshing tea break at one of the havelis, which has now been converted into a beautiful heritage hotel.

After tea, we will drop you back to your hotel by autorickshaw.

Tour Notes:
Autorickshaws in Bikaner do not have silencers and are very noisy. This tour has no climbing except one flight of stairs at the Jain temple (optional). This walk does not have access to good toilets, except at the end during the tea.
